Our History

CCRG was formed in 1988 in Jackson, Michigan in order to assist industry and government planning agencies in the identification and documentation of archaeological and historical resources. Subsequently incorporated in the State of Michigan in 1992, CCRG grew over the years and eventually established branch offices in Minocqua, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Buffalo, New York; and Belleville, Illinois.

What We Offer

CCRG has the professional capabilities, expertise and creativity to design and implement comprehensive cultural resource and historic preservation programs. Proven through both pre–award and post-contract audits, our accounting system meets all government requirements. Our most recent governmental audit — conducted by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) covering the period of June 7, 1996 through March 30, 1998 — found our accounting procedures to be in compliance with terms and conditions of MDOT’s work authorization.

CCRG is prequalified by Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT); Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT); Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT); and Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) for Prehistoric Archaeology, Historic Archaeology, Reconnaissance Level Survey, Intensive Level Survey and Section 106/4(f) Evaluation.

Decades of Experience and Excellence

Our list of completed or in-progress projects reflects the diversity of our capabilities. We have coordinated literature and file searches in advance of survey projects and cultural resource surveys for many types of projects. CCRG has also been involved in investigations and report production for work ranging from surveys of a few acres to the analysis and reporting effort for major mitigation projects. In addition to our list of clients for whom we serve as a prime contractor, we also serve as subcontractors for a number of major projects.

Our Staff

CCRG employs a talented, dedicated staff of specialists. Each member of our staff has from two to over 23 years of experience in cultural resource investigations. Our staff includes 12 archaeologists and four architectural/historians that meet the Secretary of Interior Standards for archaeological or architectural/history investigations, respectively. CCRG's research staff members are experienced in the full range of cultural resource studies ranging from a few to thousands of acres; testing and evaluation for National Register of Historic Places nominations or determinations of eligibility; data recovery to mitigate the impact of construction; preparation of cultural resource management planning documents; preparation of National Register nominations or determinations of eligibility; and other services to place clients in compliance with cultural resource legislation. CCRG was approved as an equal opportunity employer (Title VI) by the Office of Equal Opportunity (MDOT) on July 15, 1995.
